Christmas 2010

Lance and Kylee worked to fix up his dad's bike for Christmas. I was really surprised at how well Kylee did at putting on new parts. She is much better at building bikes than I am.

Our cat pretty loves to be under the tree. She will hang out there for hours it is pretty funny.

Sariah and Kylee opening presents. We all had a good Christmas.

We had breakfast at our house Christmas morning. Lance slaved away and made a great breakfast for both of our families.

Awning

Bruce welded the awning together. He and Lance hoisted it up and bolted it onto the house.

New Car

We bought a new car today. I have always wanted a Scout. There is something about them that I think is really cute. This particular one however, is not as stylish as I had hoped for (or maybe it is too stylish for me). The hot little light on the top is really sexy.

We really bought the Scout for the plow. Now that we have a gigantic driveway none of us want to shovel snow. Now we just have to get the Scout running and of course it's snowing. Maybe we will have to shovel anyway.

Mopping the floors

Everyone has to do their part, and it was mopping day at our house. Kylee and Ellie pulled Lance around the floor to clean it up and Lance pulled the girls around too. Now the floors sparkle and they all had fun.

The Driveway is Done!

The driveway is completely poured (we will be able to drive on it on Monday or Tuesday). It really makes me happy to know that I don't have to hop from board to board and hope that I don't fall into the sticky mud this winter. Hooray for the driveway!

Kylee, Bruce and Lance have been working on Kylee a pallet fort. It is so cool. It went up pretty quickly. She is a lucky kid to have cool things that this.

Sorry it's late here is Kylee's Halloween costume. She is a monster bride, Grace is the mad hatter. They had a good time trick-or-treating.

Mud Free Winter

We have spent the last month working on the driveway. Trying to give us a mud free pathway to the house. This past spring was a nightmare with mud. We have had about eight pours so far and have one more to go and then the driveway will be out to the road. It is a really long driveway. It is a lot bigger that what I thought it would be. It is going to be an all day task when we have to shovel snow.

We laid some sod down for a pathway between the neighbor's and our house. It was all so that Kylee and Grace could walk back and forth and stay out of the mud. Of course they still prefer the mud.

We finally have the Internet!

The roof is now ready for seed.

We measured the depth, raked, and smoothed out the soil.

We shoveled seven bags of soil around the roof. I even helped.

He sure is cute in his cowboy hat.

The soil finally made its way onto the roof! Bruce slit the bag and it fell out. The soil went on fairly quickly. The dirt mix wasn't as heavy as I thought it would be.

Lance, Bruce, and I laid out the pavers in a few places. There is a row around the perimeter of the roof that can be walked on to admire the views and get around without walking on the plants. There is a large space around the skylight box that can be used for a patio or sleeping out on or really whatever you want. There are also two shortcuts across the roof and a larger area where the stairs and climbing wall will come onto the roof.

We have been working on the roof. The temperature has cooled off enough to be able to be on the roof. The roof has a few layers to it, what you can see in this picture is the waterproof membrane followed by the drain board, then the weed barrier; last is either the foam and pavers or soil and seeds.

We have been pretty busy this past month. We have moved in to the new house and cleaned and rented out the old house. We now live in a cluttered mess of stuff in bins and "I don't know where that is right now". Some day soon it will all be put away.

What We Have Been Up To

We have been taking a break from the house for a couple of weeks. We went to Yellowstone this past weekend and Bear Lake the week before. It was nice to get away for a bit.
Mystic Falls

Fishing Bridge

Upper Falls

Bear Lake

Lance bought a sail boat last fall and we finally took it out and learned to sail. We had a perfect little breeze and sailed around the lake.

Update

Speakers

Lance installed a few of the speakers.

Roof

These bags are filled with potting soil. We had to haul them two at a time. They have not made it onto the roof yet, probably soon though.

Dining Room

Living Room

We have the couches and rugs all in place. It is really relaxing.

Kitchen

Master Closet

I am pretty sure we have enough shoes to fill the space.

Kylee's Room

Kylee now has curtains and rugs. It feels like a bedroom.

We made Kylee's closet her height and able to grow with her. It turned out really cool.

Current Status

Bet you can't guess which one is ours.

We have our occupancy certificate and can now call this home, officially.

We just recently had the garage doors installed. They don't open quite yet but they are hanging. They are stainless steel plated the white covering is still on them. When it has been removed I will take another picture.

The front door has been all trimmed out and sealed up. It is completely finished!

All of the windows have been trimmed with stainless steel. This is one of the sliding doors on the patio, but they all look this good.

The kitchen is pretty much complete. We still need to polyurethane the floors and add toe kicks, but for the most part it is finished.

Kylee gets to have her own microwave in the cupboard because the other one was a little hard for her to reach. It looks pretty cool on the shelf.

The skylight is still in progress but this is where we are now. The glass in up and the stainless is on the top and the backside of the skylight. I believe we are going to be putting mirrors on the inside of the skylight to reflect the light inside the house better. It is looking good but still in progress.
